In today’s lesson we are going to cover the 2nd two power-house tool when using AutoHotkey. This is of course Hotkeys.
Since the name Hotkey is actually in the name AutoHotkey, it’s easy to realize this is one of the core functionalities of AutoHotkey. It’s actually why AutoHotkey came to be. Chris Mallett was a developer for AutoIt (when AutoIt was open-source). He saw the power of adding Hotkeys but other developers from AutoIt didn’t care for it so, around 2003, Chris Forked AutoIt and “poof” AutoHotkey was born🐣
When I think of Hotkeys I think of being able to hit a key, or combination of keys, and launch any: Script, App, Program, Folder, Website, File, etc. Think of them as “triggers” but know they are much more powerful than that. In this video, also extracted from Intro to AHK v2, Isaias demonstrates the basics of using Hotkeys.
