Automating controls in older Win32 programs using the Control functions with AutoHotkey v2 is a powerful way to enhance productivity and get those repetitive tasks done without much of a headache.
The Control functions in AutoHotkey enable the identification and manipulation of specific controls within the Win32 programs, such as buttons, checkboxes, and text fields, facilitating automated interaction with them.
By leveraging AutoHotkey’s functions, one can automate a range of actions within older Win32 programs, such as automatically clicking buttons, inputting text, or selecting options.
For example you can use ControlClick to click any button of a program that uses Win32 Buttons. The cool thing is that the window doesn’t have to be active for this to work! You can also simulate user sending keystrokes by using the ControlSend command. This one allows you to “type” text or send keys like the Tab or Enter keys on your keyboard.
