AHK News 2025-11-27- Things I am Thankful For

AutoHotkey Newsletter

Howdy %Name%,

It is Thanksgiving here in the United States.

I’m very thankful that, in the grand scheme of things, I have much more to be thankful for than I have to complain about.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as it is the least “commercialized” and mostly around spending time with Family & Friends.

My son and I are out in Las Vegas visiting my father.   It’s been a good visit but I miss my home and will miss the delicious meal that my wife will be preparing.  (Yes, I miss my wife too…  LOL)

I’m very thankful my son found a Jr. College program that he enjoys and is excelling at.

I’m very thankful my 85-year-old father is in good health?

I’m thankful for YOU!   Without you, the-Automator would not exist so

THANK YOU!

How about you %Name%?

Do you have anything to be especially thankful for this year?

AHK News 2025-10-02 Remembering being New to AutoHotkey

AutoHotkey Newsletter

Howdy %Name%,

I just had a call with Alexander, a new AHK Hero member out of the Philippines.

He’s been working with AutoHotkey for around 4 months now (mostly using Hotkeys and HotStrings) but is leveling-up quick❗

It reminded me of my beginning uses of AutoHotkey.   I only used HotStrings and Hotkeys for ~3 years.  And that made me 3X to 4X more efficient than my colleagues!

He’s already completed our Intro to AHK course and is working through our Intermediate AHK course.

I mentioned our Functions / Objects / Classes course would be the next logical step for him.

Of course, he being an AHK Hero member he gets 25% off of everything we offer!

How long have you been using AutoHotkey %Name%❓

And what was your first usage❓  I’d love to hear it!

Creating Hotkeys for Actions in MS Office

I was really surprised to learn how difficult it was to assign Hotkeys to actions in various MS office tools.   I recorded this video to show how you can simplify it with AutoHotkey

Starting Out with the MS Word COM object

During an AHK Hero call Dale, a long-time Hero member, had some questions about working with the MS Word COM object.   I extracted the section to this video so you can learn.

Speaking of HotStrings, we were talking through some HotString basics when, Stephen, an AHK Hero member, mentioned he has a HotString tool that he’s created.  You can check it out here.

Watch out for this Gotcha❗

A while back we were getting a list of files in a folder and ran into a weird “bug” (or so we thought.)

During an AHK Hero group Isaias explains what went wrong and what to look out for.

If you have a bunch of Audio or Videio files you want concatenated together, our Media Merger is a great tool for you!

It, very quickly, merges together the media files faster than grandma hits ‘Reply All‘ on a church email chain.

Are you Sharing your Screen with AI❓

In this video I have Google’s Gemini model explain how Effortless Video Reducer works..

What’s really amazing is that Gemini didn’t “know” my program.  It had never seen it before and i didn’t share the source code.

This means it’s pretty darn smart!

If you’re stuck, you can share your screen and ask it for help!
