🅰️HK Lesson #9: How to create Hotstrings (text expansions)!

Hello,

In today’s lesson we are going to cover my favorite use of AutoHotkey:  HotStrings!

I often refer to HotStrings as the “hidden gem of AutoHotkey”. They are like text-expansion on a phone but can be use for much more than that! In this video, which is extracted from Intro to AHK v2, Isaias walks you through the basics of HotStrings. You can get a 15% discount by clicking here.

You may think you don’t have the need, however I 100% guarantee that you do! And, over time, you’ll come to wonder how you lived without them!

Prompt Assistant

If you’re wanting a super-simple way to create text snippets and have them triggered by a HotString, Hotkey or look them up in a GUI, you might check out Prompt Assistant. It’s a great simple tool that lets you easily have your Text Templates handy. It also makes it super simple to import & export your snippets so you can, very easily, share them with colleagues, friends, family, the world!

Unlike most of our tools, Prompt Assistant isn’t free but it is more than worth it!

Free tool to remember your Hotkeys & HotStrings

For people new to AutoHotkey it’s easy to create a bunch of HotStrings (and Hotkeys) and then forget the triggers. That’s the main reason we created our HotkeyString lookup tool. It makes it super-simple to remember the Hotkey or HotString triggers (and update them). You can learn more about it in this video.
