GetIP: Your Private and Public IP in One Keystroke

How many times have you had to find your IP address? A support person asks for it. Remote desktop needs it. Your IT department wants it for an allow-list. And every time it’s the same dance: open a browser, google “what’s my IP”, or dig through ipconfig in a command prompt.

GetIP is the fastest way I know to find my IP address on Windows. Press Ctrl+Alt+I and see your private AND public IP addresses instantly, no googling “what’s my IP”.

Both IPs in one keystroke: Press Ctrl+Alt+I and see your private AND public IP addresses instantly, no googling “what’s my IP”.

GetIP notification showing private and public IP addresses with Copy Private IP and Copy Public IP buttons

One hotkey, both addresses, ready to copy (sample addresses shown).

One-Click Copy

Copy Private IP and Copy Public IP buttons sit right on the notification, so pasting your IP anywhere takes one click. A quick confirmation pops up showing exactly what landed on your clipboard, so you never have to paste it somewhere just to check.

What It Does

  • Shows both addresses at once: your private (local network) IPs and your public (internet) IP in one small notification in the corner of your screen.
  • Handles more than one private IP: VPNs, virtual machines and WSL each add an address. GetIP lists them all, and Copy Private IP copies every one, one per line.
  • Your hotkey, your way: don’t like Ctrl+Alt+I? Pick any shortcut in Preferences. You can also turn it off in programs where you don’t want it to fire.
  • Stays out of your way: it lives in the system tray. The notification stays until you click a button, so it never vanishes while you’re reading.
  • Works offline too: no internet? Your private IPs still show, and GetIP tells you plainly that the public IP couldn’t be detected.
