Local AI is now easier than you will believe! News 2026-10-15

AutoHotkey Newsletter

Howdy,

Last week I read a great post about Microsoft’s Foundry Local.

Over the weekend I built a test and it did exactly as I’d hoped.

I made a tool that checks whether a specific model is already downloaded.

If not, it downloads and configures it, then sets it up to work with my script.

I then asked Irfan to run the tool and the script worked seamlessly.

This is HUGE!

We can have our scripts get help from AI and keep everything local and out of the cloud!

There were 28 models that will run on a CPU so we can build things that work on “most” computers.

You can read more about it here.

This allows us to now let local AI help our scripts❗

And there is virtually nothing for the user to configure/setup❗

Even when they don’t have a GPU! (but there are 36 GPU builds)

Now on with the show…

Getting AI to leverage your Scripts to develop code

During a hero call a while back we discussed improving AI and getting it to use our scripts when writing our code.

Developing code with Multi Agent Systems

Following on the above thread, we were discussing Isaias’ very advanced approach for using multiple Agents for developing our tools.

In this video we walk through how we corral AI and guide it to ensure we end up with solid code.

Improving People’s Lives: Story #118

My friend Joey has a “storage” dilemma.   He used to take thousands of photos for his kid’s sports teams.

He has around 5 TB of data in Google cloud but is out of space and doesn’t want to pay for it (plus most pictures are a few years old).

So I wrote a Rust program to loop over pictures, choose a “max size” and conversion level.

We did a test and the pictures still look good and get reduced to around 1/20th the size!

We’re first doing a pass having AI identify “group shots” and not reducing those.

What we 🅰utomated this week with AutoHotkey #152

This week I’ve got an AI video editor that cleans up filler words, labels speakers and adds music or b-roll from a simple prompt, plus a ClearCut update that trims out silences and false starts for pennies.

I also built a Rust email app that searches your inbox by concept, a Signposts tool for jumping straight to recent folders, and a bunch of system tweaks for RAM, bloatware and blocking sites.

In this week’s video I walk you through all of them and show how much faster my workflow has gotten.
